The Clis Group, consisting of 3 Chinese companies and 1 UK based company, is aiming to provide a more direct and efficient service that is focussed on the needs of our customer portfolio. We are located in Hangzhou, the capital city of the Zhejiang Province, which is the largest exporter of clothing in China and situated only 150 km south of Shanghai. Hangzhou is consistently recognised as being the safest city to live and visit in China and local residents are well known as being the happiest in China. An interesting fact is that for four years running Hangzhou has been voted by the World Bank and Forbes magazine as the best commerce city in China.

Established in 1998 the first company, Zhejiang Clis Imp & Exp Co., Ltd acted as a trading company and showed remarkable growth by supplying many global brands. Earlier production was heavily biased towards sports leisure garments and as the business grew our product portfolio grew also to include both woven and knitted casual wear, tailored garments, fashion and formal clothing. Some of the brands we have supplied include: Converse, Umbro, Le Coq Sportif, Kappa, Head, Lotto, Lonsdale, Avia, Fila, Russell, Ocean Pacific, Slazenger, Hi-Tec, Diadora, Gola, Penn, Campri, Brooks, Sports Zone, Title, Arena, Emporio Armani, Prostar, Polo Executive, Air Walk, Bear, Skopes, Blue Max, Dudeskin, G-Unit, etc. In turn our products have been sold in retail groups such as: JJB, Sports Direct, JD Williams, Intersport, Mackays, Peacocks, BHS, Grattan, Makro, Tesco, George at Asda, Sainsbury, Matalan, Woolworths, C&A, Littlewoods, Every's, Lifestyle, Champion, M&M Sports, Topgrade, The Factory Shop, Streetwise, Allterain, TK Maxx, TJ Hughes, Giles Sports, Heatons, Slater, Peek & Cloppenburg, Carrefour, Sonae, etc.

The Clis Group provides a very strong and professional foreign trade team, each one English speaking and with many years experience of working to European customer expectations. It should also be said that the team of employees at The Clis Group who are extremely dedicated have seen the benefit of growth that company has experienced in recent years. The Clis Group continues to grow and improve with key recent developments being the set up of 2 new wholly owned factories which will provide our customers with a more direct service, lower prices, better quality and more flexibility. These resources completely comply with all social compliance requirements and certification such as ISO9001:2000 and SA8000 - which is an ever increasing global requirement and underpins the Clis Group's undertaking to exceed the requirements for the social responsibilities of a modern successful company. The new manufacturing resources incorporate all the modern management concepts with brand new advanced machinery and software.

The first new wholly owned factory - Zhejiang Clis Fashion Co., Ltd - started production in March 2007 and has proved to be a big success. Testimony to this was that we proudly passed the Converse company audit only 12 days after the factory inauguration - this was the first important indicator of our responsibility as a modern socially compliant factory. Zhejiang Clis Fashion Co., Ltd has a working space of 9000 square metres and we anticipate a work force of 850 staff by June of 2008. This factory is located only 20 minutes drive away from our head office which can be found in the centre of Hangzhou City. It is a model factory - a factory for the future, where we have specialist departments for design, research & development, a fast response sample department and extensive showrooms.

The second new wholly owned factory - Zhejiang Clis Clothing Co., Ltd, is in the process of being built and will start operation during 2008. Only a 40 minute drive from our head office it will be some 5-6 times bigger than Zhejiang Clis Fashion with a compliment of around 2500 work force. This factory will also include new embroidery and printing divisions to enable an even better service to our customers.

All of this additional capacity will provide our customers with greater flexibility - lower prices, quicker lead times (for samples and bulk production) and improved quality. All-in-all a much better service. This is the commitment of The Clis Group to ensure the mutual benefit of long term growth with our customers.

We see the process of change over the years, from being a trading company to being a clothing manufacturer as being very special. The experience gained by our foreign trade team during the many years trading with our customers has been invaluable in this process and as such it sets the Clis Group apart from other manufacturers. We know very well the demands and expectations of our customers and this has been paramount in our minds from the very beginning of our change to be a socially responsible manufacturer.

To compliment these resources we also offer a European support team through our office at Zhejiang Clis UK Ltd which again is wholly owned by the Clis Group and offers commercial and design support to our European customers.
